At Randwick Magic Girls Rugby Club, we're all about helping girls discover confidence and friendship through the beautiful game of Rugby. Whether you are beginner or seasoned player, we welcome girls of all abilities.
Girls Rugby
Girls’ rugby celebrates differences in size, strength, shape and speed, empowering girls with self confidence, while participating in a game that develops their skills, fitness and team work. There are a number of opportunities for girls to get involved and play rugby both on and off the field, whether as a player, coach, referee or volunteer.
XVs Rugby (Sera Naiqama Cup)
Randwick Magic participates in the Sera Naiqama Cup (Girls Rugby XV’s with 'Game On' principles). Testament to the growth of girls Rugby, the Sera Naiqama Cup is now full season competition during the Winter – the same as the boys. The ‘Game On’ principles allow teams to match numbers down to a min of 10 players, to get as many girls playing on the field as possible.
Rugby 7s (Madison Ashby & Sariah Paki Cups)
Rugby 7s is an exciting game that is now an Olympic sport. The game originated in Scotland in 1883 and is now played in many countries around the world. The sport boasts the exact same rules, ball and field, however, there are only 7 players per team on the field at any one time and the games finish in just 14 minutes of play. Sydney Junior Rugby Union has seen the number of players enjoying this game sky rocket in the last few years. The Madison Ashby and Sariah Paki Cups run October-November and we enter teams in most age groups.
Representative Rugby
Randwick Magic enters district teams for NSW State XVs and 7s Championships for u12s and above. For U14 – U18 age groups, players are also eligible for selection in the representative Sydney Junior Rugby Union (SJRU) teams who compete against country juniors and other visiting unions. Players who excel at that level also have an opportunity for selection in an NSWRU team. Randwick Magic has an excellent track record of producing representative players at the SJRU and NSWRU level and also the national level.
